  When I learned of plein air
  painting (the art of painting
  from nature) I was hooked.
  Now I can’t wait for the
  weather to warm. Their
  becomes a quality to the
  aloneness of being an artist…
  a contentment…the sun on
  your legs…warm air gently
  blowing at your face…and
  yes, even the buzzing of the
  insects. There comes a
 freshness to my perception. Many of these sketches have
become inspiration for larger works.
